New Years Eve walk was supposed to be up Helvellyn via Striding Edge but due to adverse weather conditions of high winds the decision to take a lower level walk was agreed by all, so Humph,Marje,Rick,Chris,Sean,Gail,Terry,Marie,Martin and Bern headed up from Hartsop to the top past Hayeswater where Humph,Martin,Terry and Marie split off towards Angle Tarn, Boredale Hause and back down to Hartsop while the rest of us headed for the top of The Knot where we got a battering by the strong winds, we about turned and walked to Angle Tarn and then at Boredale Hause we had another split in the troups and Marje,Chris and Sean made there way back to Hartsop and Rick,Bern and Gail headed up Place Fell and back to Hartsop where we all met up at Beetham Cottage with a glass or two of heart warming mulled wine and hot nibbles with Chris and Rob Smitton, and then the evening celebrations began.
New Years Day with better weather conditions Gail and Phil went up Helvellyn although still lots of snow and crampons needed, while the rest of us had a lovely walk along side of Ullswater lake to Aira Force waterfalls.
