Ingleborough Walk Sunday 21 July. The walk started from the B6255 just past White Scar Cave & up the fellside towards Raven Scar. The path goes through the scar & then over a wall from where we walked NE along the scar top before turning SE & heading around Tatham Wife Moss towards Tatham Wife Hole where we had elevenses. We then headed towards Falls Foot Corrie which looks like a really unlikely walking ascent route up the corrie. However it goes well – a bit like a steep, stony Lakeland Fell ascent. From the top of the corrie it’s only about 350 metres to the top of Ingleborough & the trig point & shelter are quite close to where we came out. From the top of Ingleborough we followed the contour path around Simon Fell & down the fellside to Great Douk Cave. We then walked to Chapel le Dale & visited the churchyard where are buried people from the local community who died from accident or disease during the construction of the Settle to Carlisle railway. From there we walked back along the road, crossed the river on stepping stones & back to the cars. Thank you to Brian, Godfrey, Kevin, Michael, Peter & Sue for your company and thank you to Deirdre for cordinating the walk.
