Conistone walk 3rd Jan 2019

‘Although the promise of wall to wall sunshine never materialised 13 members , who all appeared to have kept their resolution to Keep Walking, joined Sue on her 3rd January walk.

We started out at Conistone, went up the Dib (a new experience for a few

people) and walked up the Byclifffe Road to Mossdale cavern, the scene of a caving tragedy in 1967. From there we walked across to Capplestone Gate , where a flock of curious and possibly hungry sheep joined us towards the end of our lunch stop, but didn’t seem to be thrilled by Brian’s offerings. We walked back down to the Dales way, with Shaun making a detour to inspect Conistone pie. His photos didn’t seem to make anyone wish they joined his expedition and underwhelming might have been the best description of the group’s response (to the Pie, not the photos I hasten to add). We then returned to Conistone via a track through an unnamed area.

A visit to the pub was thwarted by its refurbishment but the teashop at Kilnsey Park proved a acceptable and enjoyable alternative.’

Thanks Sue for great days walk
