Lots to report from recent meets as we have been very active in recent weeks, taking advantage of the better weather and longer days at this time of year.

WITCHES QUARRY
Our local crag never fails to satisfy and it was great to see Mark and Linda tackling Familiar’s Fall HVS and Bern and Linda on Brimstone HVS while Peter tackled the excellent Reeve VS.

GIGGLESWICK NORTH
A sunny Thursday evening on a steep little sports crag which provides an intense and fingery workout. It was good to see Jen and Adam again who managed to get time out from other demands to come climbing and I think they both came to appreciate the physical demands of sports climbing – safer than trad but requiring more finger strength and focused technique.

HIGH STONEY BANK
On the last evening of May, we met up at the superb High Stoney Bank, another steep limestone sports crag in a beautiful and secluded stream valley above Gordale Scar. The evening light allowed nine of us to climb until gone 9 pm and it was good to welcome back Skipton Sam and Andy, recently returned from Mallorca with the perfect tan to prove it. Lots of routes in the 5+ to 6b range were tackled and without exception, they all proved to be high quality climbs on good rock.
