Bowland walk January 2017

A select group of four enjoyed ideal conditions for the January walk in the Bowland Fells- i.e. frozen peat bogs and clear views. Starting at Higher Fencewood we headed off to Dinkling Green- no sign of Noddy, Mr Blobby or Postman Pat!- then continued to Lickhurst Farm to take the Stanley Road bridleway to Burnslack. Here a short, steep climb took us to a coffee stop on Saddle Fell before a long slog over uneven ground led to the trig. point on Totridge Fell. Descending via the northeast ridge towards Mellor Knoll, the party followed the notorious “hen house”  mountain bike route above New Hey Farm  back to Higher Fencewood for Christmas cake and coffee.

The photos show Saddle Fell, a view of Pendle,Totridge Fell summit, on the way back to Higher Fencewood.
